Setting up availability.
Tell kaien when you're open. It handles the rest — conflicts, timezones, buffers.
Weekly schedule
Each event type has its own availability schedule. Go to the event type, open the Availability tab, and toggle the days you want to accept bookings. For each active day, set one or more time windows — for example, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
You can have different hours on different days. Monday might be 10 am – 4 pm while Friday is 10 am – 1 pm. Just set each day independently.
Buffers
Buffers add breathing room around each booking. A 15-minute buffer before means no one can book a slot that starts within 15 minutes of an existing event. A buffer after means kaien blocks time after each booking so you can decompress, take notes, or travel.
Set buffers per event type under Advanced settings. Buffers are invisible to your guests — they just see fewer available slots.
Minimum notice
Minimum notice prevents last-minute bookings. If you set 24 hours, no one can book a slot that starts within the next 24 hours. Useful if you need prep time before calls.
Booking window
The booking window limits how far in advance someone can schedule. Set it to 30 days and guests can only book within the next 30 days — useful for keeping your calendar from filling up months out.
Timezones
Your availability is stored in your local timezone (set in your account settings). When a guest opens your booking page, kaien detects their browser timezone and shows slots converted to their local time. The confirmation email shows the time in both timezones so there's no confusion.
If you travel frequently, update your timezone in Settings → Account so your availability reflects where you actually are.
Days off and holidays
For one-off days off, block time directly in Google Calendar. kaien reads your calendar for conflicts — any event marked as “Busy” will cause kaien to hide those slots from guests. You don't need to configure anything in kaien itself; just block the time in your calendar as you normally would.
